Autumn is part of our seasonal treatment programme. We don’t offer it as a one-off treatment.
What we do on the autumn visit
- A foliar feed with iron and seaweed. It goes on to the leaves and is taken in quickly, to strengthen the grass before winter.
- Moss kept in check. The iron dries the moss out, which is what controls it.
- Organic seaweed. It frees up nutrients that have become locked in the soil.
Why seaweed
Farmers and gardeners have used seaweed as a soil improver for centuries. Ours comes from a sustainable source off the west coast of Ireland.
It contains many of the micronutrients plants need that aren’t always available in the soil. It also contains alginates, which improve clay soil and help hold water in the topsoil.
Seaweed is part of every autumn and winter visit. You can upgrade to have it on every visit, all year.
What you’ll see afterwards
Moss that has been treated turns black. That is the moss drying out and dying back.
We leave a card after every visit, telling you what we did and what to do next.
Other jobs that suit autumn
Autumn is a good time for aeration, to relieve compaction, and scarification, to remove moss and thatch. Both are add-ons for clients on our treatment programme.
