I have been working in turf for over 30 years. After studying Sports Turf Science at Greenmount Agricultural College I began my career as a greenkeeper, spending the next 20 years on golf courses, the last eight of them at Clandeboye Golf Club.
Over a decade ago I decided I wanted to start my own business, and Premier Lawns was born. What started as me and a van has grown into three businesses.
Premier Lawns looks after a small number of lawns across greater Belfast.
Premier Lawns Media makes our videos. I often joke it’s a lawnmower in one hand and a camera in the other.
iGrow Carpet is my own range of lawn care products, with a free Learning Hub that teaches people how to look after their lawns themselves.
Fun facts: apart from creating beautiful lawns, I love to unwind with a beer and a BBQ. And I don’t actually have a lawn of my own. Where I film is my family home, where I grew up. That’s why you will often see my dad Chris in a cameo role.
Our Social Media Channels
The channels are a big part of what we do now. I started making the odd YouTube video in 2015, and what began as a shy fella talking to a camera has grown into the biggest lawn care channel on YouTube in Europe. Over 100,000 subscribers, more than 30 million views, watched in over 100 countries.
Every video we make takes three days (or more) to film and edit. Some projects run for months at a time, and another fun fact is we film up to a year in advance.
We film at golf clubs like Clandeboye, Belvoir Park and further afield, to show how the pros do it and break those methods down to teach people how to do it in their own gardens. Spring is our busiest filming season, and it is also when the most enquiries land. If you contact us in spring, we are usually too busy to take anything new on.

I also host the Roots to Revenue podcast, where I bring business owners from all over the UK on to talk about their businesses, the challenges they have faced and what they have learned along the way.

iGrow Carpet grew straight out of the channel. Thousands of people wanted to learn how to look after their own lawns, and I can’t be everywhere at once. That’s why I created my own fertiliser brand with a strong focus on education first.

I was born on a farm in County Wicklow (the garden of Ireland), but I came to live with Robbie when I was 10 weeks old and I have been guarding the Premier Lawns office ever since. You might also see me out in the Premier Lawns van occasionally, or in the odd Premier Lawns YouTube video where I take on cameo roles. Folk say I am by far the cutest and most cuddly member of the team. I love the beach and forest walks, but I don’t like to swim.
Hope House
Over the years we volunteered our lawn treatments and fundraised for Hope House, a seaside haven at Browns Bay offering free breaks to cancer patients and their carers.
