Premier Lawns is based in Jordanstown, so the lawns we look after across Jordanstown and Greenisland are the ones closest to home.

From seasonal lawn treatments to aeration, scarifying and overseeding, we take care of what your lawn needs throughout the year.

You enjoy your garden. We’ll look after the grass.

Sound like your lawn?

  • Moss that comes back every spring
  • Pale, yellowing grass that never holds its colour
  • Patches that dry out and go brown first every summer
  • Humps, hollows and ruts you can feel underfoot
  • Thatch that keeps building up, however often it’s raked

Each of those has a fix. It usually takes the right work at the right time of year rather than anything quick, and the videos further down show what that looks like on lawns near you.

Your lawn, on autopilot

If you’re in Jordanstown or Greenisland, your garden is part of your home. It’s the first thing people see when they pull up, and it’s where you want to be when the weather’s good.

You get a lawn that looks right all year, without it eating into your weekends or you having to work out what it needs next. We visit five times a year, roughly every 10 weeks, and time each treatment around the weather. All you do is keep it cut, or let the robot do it, and enjoy it.

Your own personal greenkeeper

Premier Lawns is a small, independent lawn care service based in Newtownabbey. It was started by Robbie Lynn in 2012, after 20 years as a greenkeeper at six golf clubs, the last eight at Clandeboye Golf Club. And it’s that knowledge that helps us work out what your lawn needs, rather than treating every lawn the same way.

We also run a lawn care channel on YouTube with over 100,000 subscribers, and the lawns you see in the videos are our clients’ lawns.

We keep our list of clients small on purpose. It means treatments go down when the conditions are right rather than when the calendar says so, and every lawn gets the attention it needs. It also means places are limited, and we only take on a select few each year.

Lawns we’ve worked on near you

These are six lawns we’ve worked on in Jordanstown and Greenisland, each with different problems and different work needed to put them right.

Greenisland (BT38) · 2026

Filling a rut and levelling a bumpy lawn

The problem: Lumpy and bumpy, with a big rut running up the middle. It hadn’t been touched in years.

What we did: We scalped it down over a few cuts and scarified it three times, lower than usual. We seeded with dwarf rye and creeping red fescue, then filled the hollows with sandy topsoil a bit at a time, dragging a plank across the lawn to find the low spots. Then the lute, the drag mat and a pre-seeder feed.

Why we did it this way: Filling a little at a time and firming it down stops the soil sinking later. Even a small dip takes more soil than you’d think, because you have to feather it out either side to keep it level.

Jordanstown (BT37) · 2026

Bringing a lawn back after the drought

The problem: Brown and stressed after this summer’s drought.

What we did: We didn’t scalp it or hollow tine it. We scarified, overseeded, top dressed with screened topsoil and matted it in, then gave it a low-nitrogen pre-seeder feed with seaweed and iron.

Why we did it this way: In a drought, grass keeps its crown alive and lets the rest go brown, and scalping or hollow tining can damage that crown. Annual meadow grass keeps seeding right through a drought, so getting the right seed in quickly stops it taking over as the lawn recovers.

Why good lawns need renovating too

The problem: A good lawn we look after regularly. The roller mower that gives it those stripes also packs the soil down, and there were weed grasses creeping in.

What we did: We hollow core aerated, gave it a maintenance scarify rather than a full renovation, and overseeded. A light top dressing went on, matted in, then seaweed and iron.

Why we did it this way: Weed grasses won’t go away on their own, but overseeding with the grasses you want is nature’s best way to crowd them out. A maintenance scarify takes less out, so a good lawn keeps looking good.

Jordanstown (BT37) · 2026

Getting a good lawn ready for winter

The problem: A lawn we’d thickened up earlier in the year that just needed setting up for winter, plus a few dog pee patches.

What we did: A light verticut, the height of cut raised for autumn and the edges done. We repaired the dog pee patches with seed mixed into soil, then put on an autumn feed and seaweed.

Why we did it this way: It didn’t need a heavy scarify, so it didn’t get one. Raising the height in autumn leaves more leaf to make and store energy while the sun is low. Seed thrown on a dog pee patch on its own rarely takes, so we break up the soil and mix the seed into it.

Greenisland (BT38) · 2026

Scarifying twice in one year

The problem: A fine fescue lawn on what used to be a tennis court, with so much thatch that one scarify a year was never going to get on top of it.

What we did: We scarified it in the spring, then gave it a heavy scarify again in the autumn, three passes, and put on iron and seaweed. No seed this time, because weedkiller was going down afterwards.

Why we did it this way: We usually tell people not to scarify twice a year, because the lawn has to recover twice. With this much thatch on a fescue lawn, it was the only way to get on top of it. And you can’t weed and seed at the same time.

Jordanstown (BT37) · 2022

A corner that always dried out

The problem: Most of the lawn had lovely crumbly soil, but one corner had sand in the bottom, probably left by the builders, and that bit always dried out.

What we did: We put the iron down a couple of weeks before. On the day we aerated, scarified and overseeded, gave the dry corner a top dressing of screened topsoil, matted it in and put on seaweed.

Why we did it this way: Iron can dehydrate new seed, so it goes on a couple of weeks before seeding, not on the day. The client checks their watering with tuna tins dotted round the garden, which is exactly what we tell people to do.

We only do work like this for clients on our treatment programme. We don’t take it on as one-off jobs, and levelling is only for clients who’ve been with us for six months or more.

Having recently met Robbie and Jason in real life, i can truly say that what you see on the YouTube channel is exactly what they are like in person. They were incredibly knowledgeable as expected and also really friendly, reassuring me that my lawn can be resurrected to life with a combination of treatment, following their advice, and patience. Would highly recommend to anyone who is fortunate enough to live in the areas they service. Thanks team Premier Lawns!

Want us to look after all of it?

In Jordanstown and Greenisland, we also offer our all-in-one package. We cut the grass and stripe it, and look after the full treatment programme, with renovation work as and when the lawn needs it, all for one yearly price.

These are the gardens we film in. It’s only available close to our base, and we can take on one or two new gardens a year.

About the all-in-one package

Is Premier Lawns right for you?

We're a good fit if:

  • You're prepared to invest in getting it right
  • You want ongoing professional lawn care
  • It's mown regularly, or you have a robot mower

We're probably not the right fit if:

  • You're mainly looking for the cheapest option
  • You need someone to cut the grass
  • You only want a one-off treatment or quick fix

We'd love to help everyone, but we're a small team and can only take on a limited number of new lawns each year. Here's where to go instead.

Above all else, we work in partnership with you. What you do between our visits makes the biggest difference, and we'll guide you on what to do and when.

Could your lawn be one we look after?

We only take on a small number of new lawns each year, focusing on areas where we can provide a reliable, ongoing service.
Start by checking your postcode. If you're in our service area, tell us a little about your lawn and we'll take it from there.

1. Check your postcode

Pop it into the checker to see if you are on our route.

2. Submit your lawn details

Fill in the short form so we can review your garden.

3. We'll be in touch

We'll look at your details and get in touch if your lawn and location are a good fit for our service.

A few common questions

Do you cover my street?

We cover Jordanstown (BT37) and Greenisland (BT38), along with the rest of Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Whitehead and Ballycarry village. Pop your postcode into the checker at the top of the page to see if you’re on our route.

Do you cut the grass?

Only as part of our all-in-one package, which is available here in Jordanstown and Greenisland. On our standard treatment programme, you keep it cut between visits, or a robot mower does.

How soon can you start?

Spring and autumn are our busiest times, and we only take on a limited number of new lawns each year.

If we have availability and your lawn is a good fit, we’ll send you an estimate by email and carry out the first treatment on our first visit.

Renovations are normally planned three to six months after you join us. We prefer to get your lawn onto a regular treatment programme first, dealing with weeds and preparing it for the renovation. Our renovations can include seeding and topdressing, so the timing matters, as weed treatments and seeding can’t be carried out together.

How will I know you’re coming?

We send you a reminder before the visit, and it tells you which member of the team is coming.

Do I need to be home when you visit?

Not at all. Most of our clients are out when we visit, so there’s no need to arrange your day around us. All we need is access to your lawn. If you have a locked gate, we’re happy to keep your access code securely on file. We’ll take care of the treatment, close everything up behind us and leave your garden just as we found it. After the visit, we leave a card so you know we’ve been.

Is it safe for children and pets?

Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn while we’re treating it, and until the lawn is dry.
