Premier Lawns looks after lawns across Belmont, Stormont and Sydenham, out to Ballyhackamore and Knock.

From seasonal lawn treatments to aeration, scarifying and overseeding, we take care of what your lawn needs throughout the year.

You enjoy your garden. We’ll look after the grass.

Sound like your lawn?

  • Moss that comes back every spring
  • Pale, yellowing grass that never holds its colour
  • Thin grass that never seems to thicken up
  • Lumps and bumps you can feel underfoot
  • Moss and weeds that have taken over completely

Each of those has a fix. It usually takes the right work at the right time of year rather than anything quick, and the videos further down show what that looks like on lawns near you.

Your lawn, on autopilot

If you’re up round Stormont, off the Belmont Road or out towards Knock, your garden is part of your home. It’s the first thing people see when they pull up, and it’s where you want to be when the weather’s good.

You get a lawn that looks right all year, without it eating into your weekends or you having to work out what it needs next. We visit five times a year, roughly every 10 weeks, and time each treatment around the weather. All you do is keep it cut, or let the robot do it, and enjoy it.

The new lawn in east Belfast after a full rejuvenation by Premier Lawns

Your own personal greenkeeper

Premier Lawns is a small, independent lawn care service based in Newtownabbey. It was started by Robbie Lynn in 2012, after 20 years as a greenkeeper at six golf clubs, the last eight at Clandeboye Golf Club. And it’s that knowledge that helps us work out what your lawn needs, rather than treating every lawn the same way.

We also run a lawn care channel on YouTube with over 100,000 subscribers, and the lawns you see in the videos are our clients’ lawns.

We keep our list of clients small on purpose. It means treatments go down when the conditions are right rather than when the calendar says so, and every lawn gets the attention it needs. It also means places are limited, and we only take on a select few each year.

Lawns we’ve worked on near you

These are four lawns we’ve worked on in east Belfast, each with different problems and different work needed to put them right.

Stormont, Belfast (BT4) · 2025

Thickening up a thin lawn

The problem: A thin lawn that needed thickening up. The cores showed roots going all the way down, so the soil underneath was in good shape.

What we did: We hollow core aerated, scarified out the build-up of thatch and overseeded. Then we top dressed with a seeding soil, matted it in and finished with a slow-release spring feed and seaweed.

Why we did it this way: Overseeding is what makes a lawn thicker, and a thick lawn crowds out weeds before they get going. The seeding soil holds moisture round the seed and evens out small dips, and the seaweed feeds the soil, not just the lawn.

Getting a lawn ready for winter

The problem: An autumn renovation, to set the lawn up for the winter and have it come back thicker in the spring.

What we did: We aerated, scarified and overseeded, then top dressed and matted it in. We finished with iron, seaweed and a low-nitrogen autumn feed.

Why we did it this way: Aerating before winter helps the rain get down into the soil instead of sitting on top. Autumn feeds are kept low in nitrogen, because too much makes the leaf soft and more prone to disease, so the feed goes on roots and the health of the plant instead.

Old Holywood Road area, Belfast (BT4)

Levelling a bumpy lawn

The problem: A bumpy lawn, with lumps and dips that showed up as soon as we ran a line across it.

What we did: After aerating and scarifying, we filled the low spots a bit at a time with topsoil and levelled it off with the lute. A light rake made a seed bed, then we seeded by hand and raked it in.

Why we did it this way: We used plain topsoil because that’s what’s already in the lawn, and there’s no point changing the soil when you want the seed to take. The light rake gives the seed something to grip, rather than sitting on a smooth, flat surface.

Starting again with a new lawn

The problem: Covered in moss, weeds and lichen. It was too far gone to patch, so it needed a reset.

What we did: We killed it off two weeks before, then scarified it four times and more to strip the old lawn out. We aerated, seeded with dwarf rye and red fescue and top dressed. It was late September, so we covered it with fleece to get the seed established before autumn set in.

Why we did it this way: Starting again from seed costs less than new turf, and you choose the grasses that go into the lawn. The fleece keeps the soil warm, holds in moisture and stops weed seeds blowing in.

We only do work like this for clients on our treatment programme. We don’t take it on as one-off jobs, and levelling is only for clients who’ve been with us for six months or more.

Having recently met Robbie and Jason in real life, i can truly say that what you see on the YouTube channel is exactly what they are like in person. They were incredibly knowledgeable as expected and also really friendly, reassuring me that my lawn can be resurrected to life with a combination of treatment, following their advice, and patience. Would highly recommend to anyone who is fortunate enough to live in the areas they service. Thanks team Premier Lawns!

Is Premier Lawns right for you?

We're a good fit if:

  • You're prepared to invest in getting it right
  • You want ongoing professional lawn care
  • It's mown regularly, or you have a robot mower

We're probably not the right fit if:

  • You're mainly looking for the cheapest option
  • You need someone to cut the grass
  • You only want a one-off treatment or quick fix

We'd love to help everyone, but we're a small team and can only take on a limited number of new lawns each year. Here's where to go instead.

Above all else, we work in partnership with you. What you do between our visits makes the biggest difference, and we'll guide you on what to do and when.

Could your lawn be one we look after?

We only take on a small number of new lawns each year, focusing on areas where we can provide a reliable, ongoing service.
Start by checking your postcode. If you're in our service area, tell us a little about your lawn and we'll take it from there.

1. Check your postcode

Pop it into the checker to see if you are on our route.

2. Submit your lawn details

Fill in the short form so we can review your garden.

3. We'll be in touch

We'll look at your details and get in touch if your lawn and location are a good fit for our service.

A few common questions

Do you cover my street?

We cover BT4, which takes in Belmont, Stormont and Sydenham, and parts of BT5 and BT6: Ballyhackamore and Castlereagh as far as Gilnahirk, and Ravenhill and Rosetta as far as the Manse Road. Pop your postcode into the checker at the top of the page to see if you’re on our route.

Do you cut the grass?

No. We look after the lawn itself, and you keep it cut between visits, or a robot mower does. If you need someone to mow it, we’re not the right fit.

How soon can you start?

Spring and autumn are our busiest times, and we only take on a limited number of new lawns each year.

If we have availability and your lawn is a good fit, we’ll send you an estimate by email and carry out the first treatment on our first visit.

Renovations are normally planned three to six months after you join us. We prefer to get your lawn onto a regular treatment programme first, dealing with weeds and preparing it for the renovation. Our renovations can include seeding and topdressing, so the timing matters, as weed treatments and seeding can’t be carried out together.

How will I know you’re coming?

We send you a reminder before the visit, and it tells you which member of the team is coming.

Do I need to be home when you visit?

Not at all. Most of our clients are out when we visit, so there’s no need to arrange your day around us. All we need is access to your lawn. If you have a locked gate, we’re happy to keep your access code securely on file. We’ll take care of the treatment, close everything up behind us and leave your garden just as we found it. After the visit, we leave a card so you know we’ve been.

Is it safe for children and pets?

Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn while we’re treating it, and until the lawn is dry.
