Premier Lawns looks after lawns in north Belfast, along the Antrim Road from the Limestone Road out to Belfast Zoo, and round Cliftonville and Fortwilliam.
From seasonal lawn treatments to aeration, scarifying and overseeding, we take care of what your lawn needs throughout the year.
You enjoy your garden. We’ll look after the grass.
Sound like your lawn?
- Moss that comes back every spring
- Pale, yellowing grass that never holds its colour
- Thin, patchy grass that never seems to thicken up
- Humps and hollows you can feel underfoot
- Soft and spongy when you walk on it
Each of those has a fix. It usually takes the right work at the right time of year rather than anything quick, and the videos further down show what that looks like on lawns near you.
Your lawn, on autopilot
If you’re off the Antrim Road, round Fortwilliam or Cliftonville, or up near Belfast Zoo, your garden is part of your home. It’s the first thing people see when they pull up, and it’s where you want to be when the weather’s good.
You get a lawn that looks right all year, without it eating into your weekends or you having to work out what it needs next. We visit five times a year, roughly every 10 weeks, and time each treatment around the weather. All you do is keep it cut, or let the robot do it, and enjoy it.

Your own personal greenkeeper
Premier Lawns is a small, independent lawn care service based in Newtownabbey. It was started by Robbie Lynn in 2012, after 20 years as a greenkeeper at six golf clubs, the last eight at Clandeboye Golf Club. And it’s that knowledge that helps us work out what your lawn needs, rather than treating every lawn the same way.
We also run a lawn care channel on YouTube with over 100,000 subscribers, and the lawns you see in the videos are our clients’ lawns.
We keep our list of clients small on purpose. It means treatments go down when the conditions are right rather than when the calendar says so, and every lawn gets the attention it needs. It also means places are limited, and we only take on a select few each year.

Lawns we’ve worked on near you
These are four lawns we’ve worked on in north Belfast, each with different problems and different work needed to put them right.
Antrim Road area, Belfast (BT15) · 2025
A full makeover for a bumpy lawn
The problem: Humps and hollows right through it, and an old drainage channel that had never really worked. The family wanted a lawn the kids could use that summer.
What we did: We cut it down, aerated, scarified and seeded straight into the scarifier lines. Then we filled the old channel and the dips with sandy topsoil, firming each layer down, levelled it with the lute and the drag mat, fed it and finished with iron and seaweed.
Why we did it this way: Normally we’d kill off the weeds first and come back to renovate later in the year, but the family wanted the lawn for the summer, so we did it in one go. We seed before top dressing because the lines are sharpest then, and walking on the soil afterwards closes them over the seed.

Overseeding in spring, done right
The problem: A lawn that needed thickening up, overseeded in spring, which isn’t the easiest time to get seed going.
What we did: We hollow core aerated, scarified out the moss and thatch, seeded at the right rate and dragged the seed in. Then we fed it and put on iron and seaweed.
Why we did it this way: Seed needs to touch the soil. Left sitting on thatch, it dries out or the birds get it, and the aeration holes act like little plant pots. Too much seed is as bad as too little, because the seedlings end up fighting each other for light, water and food.

Bringing the thatch down with the right seed
The problem: A lot of fine grasses in it, which build up thatch, and the cores showed a deeper layer than we’d like. The roots went all the way to the bottom, though.
What we did: We aerated, scarified and overseeded with dwarf rye and fescue. We skipped the top dressing on this one, dragged the seed in instead, then fed it.
Why we did it this way: Dwarf rye makes far less thatch than the fine grasses, so it brings the layer down year on year. You don’t have to top dress when you overseed, as long as you drag the seed in so it gets good contact with the soil.

A small lawn, fully renovated
The problem: A small lawn that wasn’t looking its best and needed a full renovation.
What we did: We aerated, then scarified to clear out the dead material and open up lines in the soil, and seeded. We top dressed with a mix of peat-free compost and topsoil straight from the bag, raked and matted it in, then put on a pre-seeder feed and seaweed.
Why we did it this way: The scarifier lines give the seed somewhere safe to grow. Compost is fine in a top dressing like this, but never for levelling, because it breaks down and the dips come back.
We only do work like this for clients on our treatment programme. We don’t take it on as one-off jobs, and levelling is only for clients who’ve been with us for six months or more.

- You only want a one-off treatment or quick fix
We'd love to help everyone, but we're a small team and can only take on a limited number of new lawns each year. Here's where to go instead.
Above all else, we work in partnership with you. What you do between our visits makes the biggest difference, and we'll guide you on what to do and when.

A few common questions
Do you cover my street?
We cover part of BT15, which takes in the Antrim Road, Cliftonville, Fortwilliam and the North Circular Road, as far as the Limestone Road. Further out the Antrim Road, past Belfast Zoo, we cover Glengormley and Newtownabbey (BT36 and BT37). Pop your postcode into the checker at the top of the page to see if you’re on our route.
Do you cut the grass?
No. We look after the lawn itself, and you keep it cut between visits, or a robot mower does. If you need someone to mow it, we’re not the right fit.
How soon can you start?
Spring and autumn are our busiest times, and we only take on a limited number of new lawns each year.
If we have availability and your lawn is a good fit, we’ll send you an estimate by email and carry out the first treatment on our first visit.
Renovations are normally planned three to six months after you join us. We prefer to get your lawn onto a regular treatment programme first, dealing with weeds and preparing it for the renovation. Our renovations can include seeding and topdressing, so the timing matters, as weed treatments and seeding can’t be carried out together.
How will I know you’re coming?
We send you a reminder before the visit, and it tells you which member of the team is coming.
Do I need to be home when you visit?
Not at all. Most of our clients are out when we visit, so there’s no need to arrange your day around us. All we need is access to your lawn. If you have a locked gate, we’re happy to keep your access code securely on file. We’ll take care of the treatment, close everything up behind us and leave your garden just as we found it. After the visit, we leave a card so you know we’ve been.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn while we’re treating it, and until the lawn is dry.
