Newtownabbey is our home turf. Premier Lawns looks after lawns across Glengormley, Mallusk and Whiteabbey, and on into Jordanstown.
From seasonal lawn treatments to aeration, scarifying and overseeding, we take care of what your lawn needs throughout the year.
You enjoy your garden. We’ll look after the grass.
Sound like your lawn?
- Moss that comes back every spring
- Pale, yellowing grass that never holds its colour
- Thin, patchy grass that never seems to thicken up
- Weak areas that never seem to recover, whatever you do
- Soft and spongy when you walk on it
Each of those has a fix. It usually takes the right work at the right time of year rather than anything quick, and the videos further down show what that looks like on lawns near you.
Your lawn, on autopilot
If you’re in Glengormley, out at Mallusk or down in Whiteabbey, your garden is part of your home. It’s the first thing people see when they pull up, and it’s where you want to be when the weather’s good.
You get a lawn that looks right all year, without it eating into your weekends or you having to work out what it needs next. We visit five times a year, roughly every 10 weeks, and time each treatment around the weather. All you do is keep it cut, or let the robot do it, and enjoy it.

Your own personal greenkeeper
Premier Lawns is a small, independent lawn care service based in Newtownabbey. It was started by Robbie Lynn in 2012, after 20 years as a greenkeeper at six golf clubs, the last eight at Clandeboye Golf Club. And it’s that knowledge that helps us work out what your lawn needs, rather than treating every lawn the same way.
We also run a lawn care channel on YouTube with over 100,000 subscribers, and the lawns you see in the videos are our clients’ lawns.
We keep our list of clients small on purpose. It means treatments go down when the conditions are right rather than when the calendar says so, and every lawn gets the attention it needs. It also means places are limited, and we only take on a select few each year.

Lawns we’ve worked on near you
These are lawns we’ve worked on in and around Newtownabbey, including two of our bigger lawns further out, each with different problems and different work needed to put them right.
Glengormley (BT36) · 2026
Thin, mossy and full of leatherjackets
The problem: Thin, patchy and mossy, and riddled with leatherjackets living just below the surface.
What we did: We hollow core aerated, scarified twice in different directions and seeded at the end of March. Then we dragged the seed in and put on seaweed to give it a good start.
Why we did it this way: The cores showed roots going all the way down, so the lawn underneath was healthy, just under pressure from the leatherjackets. Seeding in March is a bit of a gamble, because the seed needs warm soil and a late frost can catch it out, so we left it until the end of the month.

Clearing thatch without stripping it bare
The problem: The cores showed a squidgy layer of thatch sitting on top of hard, compacted soil.
What we did: We aerated first, then scarified out the moss, thatch and dead growth, leaving a healthy layer behind. We finished with seaweed and iron.
Why we did it this way: Every time you mow, clippings settle into the base of the lawn, and the thatch builds up year after year. Some of it is healthy, so the job is keeping it in check, not stripping it out. The iron dries out the moss, and the seaweed feeds the soil, not just the lawn.

A lawn we scarify every year
The problem: One of our lawns a bit further out. The strip along the fence, where water runs in from the road, holds far more moss and thatch than the rest.
What we did: We aerated, scarified twice with the second pass across the first, fed it, then put on iron. It’s also the first video Jason appears in.
Why we did it this way: The iron goes on after scarifying, not before. The scarifier opens the moss up, so the iron soaks right down to the base instead of just burning the top. It was mid-April, so we kept it gentle with summer coming.

A big lawn cut by a robot mower
The problem: A big, mostly ryegrass lawn we’ve looked after for a number of years, cut by a robot mower two or three times a week. People are often told a robot mower means you never need to scarify, aerate or feed.
What we did: We aerated and scarified, starting a foot in from the boundary cable and leaving plenty of room either side of the guide wire, then cleared it all up.
Why we did it this way: Even cut that often, there was still thatch and sideways growth to pull out. The clippings a robot leaves do put goodness back into the lawn, but to get the most out of it, it still needs aerating, scarifying and treating. A couple of weeks later the colour was coming back nicely. More on robot mowers.
We only do work like this for clients on our treatment programme. We don’t take it on as one-off jobs.

A few common questions
Do you cover my street?
We cover all of BT36 and BT37, which takes in Glengormley, Mallusk, Jordanstown and Whiteabbey. We also look after some larger lawns further out, towards Ballyclare, Ballyrobert, Templepatrick and Nutts Corner. If you’ve a bigger lawn out that way, it’s worth asking, even if the postcode checker says you’re outside our area. Lawns further out can take longer to get a first visit, because we have to make the trip rather than call in while we’re passing, so in a lot of cases you’ll be offered a place on our waiting list. If you’re in Jordanstown, have a look at our Jordanstown and Greenisland page too. Pop your postcode into the checker at the top of the page to see if you’re on our route.
Do you cut the grass?
No. We look after the lawn itself, and you keep it cut between visits, or a robot mower does. If you need someone to mow it, we’re not the right fit.
How soon can you start?
Spring and autumn are our busiest times, and we only take on a limited number of new lawns each year.
If we have availability and your lawn is a good fit, we’ll send you an estimate by email and carry out the first treatment on our first visit.
Renovations are normally planned three to six months after you join us. We prefer to get your lawn onto a regular treatment programme first, dealing with weeds and preparing it for the renovation. Our renovations can include seeding and topdressing, so the timing matters, as weed treatments and seeding can’t be carried out together.
How will I know you’re coming?
We send you a reminder before the visit, and it tells you which member of the team is coming.
Do I need to be home when you visit?
Not at all. Most of our clients are out when we visit, so there’s no need to arrange your day around us. All we need is access to your lawn. If you have a locked gate, we’re happy to keep your access code securely on file. We’ll take care of the treatment, close everything up behind us and leave your garden just as we found it. After the visit, we leave a card so you know we’ve been.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn while we’re treating it, and until the lawn is dry.
