What is lawn levelling?
Lawn levelling is taking the humps and hollows out of a lawn.
Before you enquire about levelling
Levelling isn’t a job we take on often. It’s slow, careful work that’s hard to fit around a full treatment schedule, and it costs more than most people expect. Some of our most popular videos are about levelling lawns, because it’s a universal problem.
If one of our videos brought you here, you’re very welcome. We do take on levelling jobs, but the diary for them is very limited. They’re hard to fit around the treatment schedule, so more often than not the work ends up in the following year, and the lawns we already look after come first in that queue.
When is the best time?
During the growing season, so the grass recovers quickly. Spring through to early autumn covers it.
Some of our past jobs
Level a bumpy lawn: the beginner’s guide
Simple tools, no fancy kit. Find the low spots with a straight edge, fill them in layers, then seed and feed the repairs.
The sand mistake to avoid
Why builder’s sand has no place on a lawn, and what to use instead. If sand is going down, it’s dry sports sand, little and often.
Levelling with sports sand
Topdressing a lawn with sports sand, and the tools that work it in. Drag mat, lawn lute or stiff brush, all put head to head.
The full Lawn SOS makeover
A bumpy lawn full of holes and an old drainage trench, put right from start to finish. Aerate, scarify, seed, fill and level.
The neglected lawn rescue
Heavy moss and a deep rut running through the lawn. Scarify hard, seed into the grooves, fill the rut in layers and level it all off.
Fixing a terrible lawn
Bumps and ruts from one end to the other. Mow low, scarify, seed, then fill and smooth until it mows like a different lawn.
A boutique partnership in professional lawn care
Great lawns aren't created by chance, and they certainly aren't built on mass-market formulas. They're built in partnership.
We work in partnership with you. We handle the treatments and the complex science of soil health. You manage the mowing and keep things right between visits.
We intentionally limit our intake. It's the only way to give every lawn the attention this partnership takes.
You mow it, we grow it.
