What is lawn levelling?
Lawn levelling is taking the humps and hollows out of a lawn. Small dips are filled gradually with topdressing. Deeper hollows and high spots need the turf lifted, the ground underneath corrected, and the turf laid back down.
Why level a lawn?
- High spots get scalped by the mower, leaving brown patches after every cut
- Hollows hold water, and wet patches grow moss
- An uneven surface never mows well, no matter how good the grass is
If you run a robot mower, a level surface matters even more. They cut little and often, and they follow every bump you’ve got.
How we do it
Little and often is the rule. Grass can only grow through so much material at once, so bigger corrections are done in stages across the season rather than burying the lawn in one go. For deeper hollows we lift the turf, sort the levels underneath and lay it back, so the repair knits in rather than standing out.
When is the best time?
During the growing season, so the grass recovers quickly. Spring through to early autumn covers it.

A boutique partnership in professional lawn care
Great lawns aren't created by chance, and they certainly aren't built on mass-market formulas. They're built in partnership.
We work in partnership with you. We handle the treatments and the complex science of soil health. You manage the mowing and keep things right between visits.
We intentionally limit our intake. It's the only way to give every lawn the attention this partnership takes.
You mow it, we grow it.
