Before you enquire
What areas do you cover?
We look after lawns in greater Belfast. As a rule we don’t travel further than 20 miles from Newtownabbey. Put your postcode into the checker on our Areas We Cover page and it will tell you.
Are you taking on new clients?
Yes, but only a small number each year. We limit our client list on purpose, so every lawn gets the attention it needs. Spring and autumn are our busiest times, so you may go on a waiting list if you enquire then.
How much does it cost?
Every lawn is different, so we don’t list prices. Check we cover your area, then send us your lawn details. If your lawn is a good fit, we’ll quote by email. We don’t do site visits before quoting.
Do you do one-off treatments?
No. Our treatments are part of a seasonal programme of five visits a year. Aeration, scarifying and renovation work are add-ons for clients on that programme.
Do you cut grass or hedges?
Only as part of our all-in-one package, which is available in Jordanstown and Greenisland. Everywhere else, you mow it and we grow it.
Do you lay turf or artificial grass?
No. We don’t lay or supply turf, and we always recommend real grass over artificial. For clients on our programme, we renovate tired lawns with a topdress and overseed.
Do you offer landscaping?
No. We only look after lawns.
Why is there no phone number on the website?
We had to remove it because of the very high number of calls we were getting. We share our contact details with the clients we work with.
Working with us
Do I have to be at home when you visit?
No. You’ll get a reminder before each visit. Please leave gates unlocked and keep pets indoors.
How do I pay?
You can pay by card straight from your invoice, through a secure payment system built by Jobber and Stripe. You can also pay by bank transfer or through your banking app.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Either of us can end the service at any time, with no notice period. Our terms and conditions explain how the service works.
Do you take away the waste?
We use your brown bin first, so please make sure we can get to it on the day. Where your quote includes green waste removal, we take away what doesn’t fit.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
Are you a member of any trade bodies?
Yes. We’re members of the UK Lawn Care Association, which promotes good practice among independent lawn care companies, and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Is Premier Lawns a franchise?
No. We’re a local, independent business. We decide what your lawn needs, not a head office.
Will my garden be in your videos?
We film some of the lawns we look after. We film the lawn, not you. In our lawn videos we would never dream of saying where a garden is, and on our website we only ever name the area.
Lawn treatments
How many treatments are there a year?
Five. We visit roughly every 10 weeks, and we work around the weather so each treatment goes on in the right conditions.
Do I need to water the lawn after a treatment?
Generally no, unless there has been a long dry spell.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We work around most conditions. If it’s too hot and dry, or too wet, we’ll hold off and be in touch as soon as conditions are right.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn while we’re treating it, and until the treatment has been watered in and the lawn is dry. Once it’s dry, they can go back on.
If your dog or cat walks on the lawn before then, give their paws a quick rinse.
Pets that eat the grass, like rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises, need more care. Keep them off treated areas for at least 7 days.
If you keep chickens, ducks or geese, tell us before we visit. We don’t treat areas where poultry graze.
I have a robot mower. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Lawns cut by a robot mower usually need less scarifying and aeration. More on robot mowers.
Can I do the treatments myself?
No. We only look after lawns where we carry out the lawn treatments. If you put anything on the lawn yourself, we can’t touch it.
If you’d rather do it all yourself, iGrow Carpet is Robbie’s own range of lawn care products, with a free Learning Hub that shows you how. Visit the Learning Hub.
We work in partnership with our clients to create beautiful lawns
Because of our work on social media, we get far more enquiries than we can take on. We only take on a small number of new lawns each year, and it takes three short steps to find out if yours can be one of them.
1. Check your postcode
Pop it into the checker to see if you are on our route.
2. Submit your lawn details
Fill in the short form so we can review your garden.
3. We'll be in touch
We'd love to help everyone, but our limited capacity means we can't take on every garden. If yours is a good fit, we'll get in touch.
iGrow Carpet
If we don't cover your area or are fully booked, check out iGrow Carpet. This is my own range of lawn care products, featuring a full free online learning hub, masterclasses, and tools to get the most from your lawn.
